1. About These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Cinelyse app (the "App"), operated by Aurora Lab Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where required by local law) to use the App. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian's permission.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must provide accurate information when registering.
You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App or its infrastructure.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App.
Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access or interact with the App.
Upload or transmit any harmful, offensive, or infringing content.
Impersonate any person or entity.

5. Subscriptions & Payments

Cinelyse offers a free tier and a Premium subscription. Premium features are available via a paid subscription purchased through Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS).

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Google Play or Apple App Store account settings.
All payments are processed by Google or Apple. We do not handle or store payment information.
Refunds are subject to the refund policies of Google Play and the Apple App Store respectively.

6. AI Features

The App includes AI-powered movie recommendation features. These are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated recommendations. Your search queries may be transmitted to a third-party AI service to generate responses — see our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, and technology within the App are owned by or licensed to Aurora Lab Ltd. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our prior written consent.

Film and TV metadata, images, and related content are sourced from third-party providers and remain the property of their respective owners.

8. User Content

Any content you submit within the App (such as ratings or watchlists) remains yours. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it to operate and improve the App. You are responsible for ensuring your content does not infringe any third-party rights.

9. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aurora Lab Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services (e.g. Google, Apple, TMDB). Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and policies. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party services.

12. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time from the Profile settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, with or without notice. On termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory local consumer protection laws apply.
